Ofsted Report

We are delighted to share our recent Ofsted Report from their visit in April 2025. Spaxton Church of England Primary School has been officially rated ‘Good’ in all areas.

The inspectors praised our strong sense of community, high aspirations for all pupils, and the effective leadership driving continued improvement. The report highlighted that “Pupils appreciate the support they gain from caring staff” and commended our commitment to pupil wellbeing and attendance.

Some key points from the report include:

  • High Expectations: “The school has high expectations of what pupils can achieve through a broad and ambitious curriculum. Pupils rise to these and typically learn the curriculum well.”
  • Responsible Citizens: “Pupils are encouraged to be responsible, active and respectful citizens. Through a variety of pupil leadership roles, they know they make a difference.”
  • Calm and Purposeful Environment: “The school is a calm and purposeful place where pupils want to learn.”
  • Determination for Success: “The school is determined for pupils to be successful.”

We are incredibly proud that the progress of the school has been recognised. We have not shied away from making important decisions about the curriculum and we are now seeing the impact on pupil outcomes. Having Ofsted report that ‘There has been a sharp focus on the quality of education that the pupils receive’ was particularly pleasing, and we look forward to seeing improvements continue as we further embed our ambitious curriculum.

The inspectors also highlighted our strong reading culture and effective curriculum planning, especially for mixed-age classes:

  • Love of Reading: “The school prioritises helping pupils to learn to read... The school promotes a love of reading.”
  • Effective Curriculum Planning: “It has considered the needs of mixed-age classes well to ensure that pupils build their knowledge based on what they have learned before.”

We are incredibly proud of this achievement and grateful for the continued support from our community.
